Houston Airport System (HAS) is the City of Houston's Department of Aviation. It is the fourth-largest airport system in the United States, serving over 180 cities worldwide. HAS is comprised of George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), William P. Hobby Airport, Ellington Airport, and Houston Spaceport. George Bush Intercontinental Airport, located about 23 miles north of Downtown Houston, is the largest airport in Houston and the 14th busiest airport in the US. It is one of the largest passenger hubs for United Airlines and has five terminals and 121 total gates.

George Bush Intercontinental Airport
In 2020, the airport began undergoing a $1.3 billion capital improvement program called the IAH Terminal Redevelopment Program (ITRP). The flagship project is the construction of the Mickey Leland International Terminal (MLIT), which will consolidate Terminals D and E into one centralized terminal. David Wayne Hooks Airport
David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport (DWH) is a public-use airport located near Tomball in unincorporated Harris County, Texas. It is 23 miles (37 km) northwest of Houston's central business district and about 10 miles northwest of George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The airport covers an area of 480 acres (190 ha) and contains two asphalt runways: 17R/35L and 17L/35R, as well as a seaplane landing area designated as runway 17W/35W.
The airport started as a personal project by Charles Hooks, who built a runway for his own use. It eventually became a business, and Hooks built a main terminal building. The airport was first opened for public use in the 1960s. After Hooks' son, David, was killed in a plane crash, the airport was renamed from Houston Northwest Airport to David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport in his memory. The airport was run and maintained by Hooks and his wife, Irma, until her death, after which their daughter helped with its operation. In 1989, Charles Hooks retired and sold the airport to the Gill Family.
The Aviator Grill is a locally-owned restaurant connected to the Gill Aviation terminal, offering views of the main ramps and runway 17R. Helicopter Services Inc.
