Charleston Airport
Charleston International Airport (IATA: CHS, ICAO: KCHS, FAA LID: CHS) is a joint civil-military airport located in North Charleston, South Carolina. Operated by the Charleston County Aviation Authority, it is the busiest airport in South Carolina, serving over 6.1 million passengers in 2023, its busiest year on record. The airport is approximately 12 miles (19 km) northwest of downtown Charleston.
The airport consists of four general areas: the military area to the west, the airline terminal to the south, the general aviation area to the east, and the Boeing assembly area further to the south. Hilton Head Island Airport
The airport's history dates back to the 1960s when it was decided that an airport would boost the number of visitors to the island. At the time, Hilton Head Island was known for its championship golf courses, and Arnold Palmer expressed interest in playing golf there if an airport was available for him to land. As a result, the Hilton Head Island Airport opened in 1967.
