Chicago's O'Hare International Airport was the filming location for the airport scenes in Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. The airport is featured in some of the most memorable scenes from the films, including when Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, boards the wrong plane in Home Alone 2. Chicago O'Hare International Airport was used for filming in Home Alone 2
Chicago O'Hare International Airport was used as a filming location for Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. The airport features in a scene where Kevin dashes through the departure lounge after mistakenly boarding a plane to New York, thinking it was his family's flight to Miami. The runway where the New York-bound plane took off was Runway 14L-32R, which has since been permanently closed. The McCallister family boards their flight to Miami at Gate H17 in Terminal 3 of the airport.
The film crew also returned to the Illinois home used as the McCallister residence in the first Home Alone film. The house is located in Winnetka, Chicago, and exterior shots of the neighbourhood were also filmed there. Other filming locations in Chicago include Hubbard Woods Park, New Trier Township High School, and Chestnut Court.
In addition to the Chicago locations, Home Alone 2 was also filmed in New York, including at Rockefeller Center, Battery Park, Radio City Music Hall, 6th Ave, 10th Ave, and Queensborough Bridge. The FAO Schwarz toy store featured in the film was situated on 5th Avenue at the time of filming but has since changed locations and can now be found at Rockefeller Plaza.
