Bangor International Airport
The history of Bangor International Airport dates back to 1921 when it began as Godfrey Field on land owned by local attorney Edward Rawson Godfrey (1877–1958). On August 19, 1923, virtually the entire U.S. Army Air Corps landed there on a practice mission. In the 1950s and 1960s, Bangor was a destination for Northeast Airlines, with flights to Boston and New York. By the 1970s, Bangor International Airport was attracting 3,000 to 5,000 commercial flights per year. Portland International Jetport
The airport has a rich history, with aerial dogfights and the Northeast's "yellowbirds" being a part of its early days. On September 3, 1987, an incident occurred where an Eastern Metro Express pilot fell off a Beechcraft 99 while the plane was flying to Boston Logan International Airport. Fortunately, the co-pilot was able to land the plane safely, and both occupants survived.
Over the years, Portland International Jetport has undergone several expansions and improvements. In 2010 and 2011, a major expansion of the airline terminal took place, with a $75 million project designed by Gensler and constructed by Turner Construction. This expansion brought about improvements to check-in and security areas, reconfiguration of airport access roads, and rehabilitation and expansion of the parking garage.
The airport has also experienced changes in airline services. In 2004, Runway 11/29 was lengthened to 7,200 feet. In 2005, Delta Air Lines ended its mainline service to PWM, and international service resumed in 2009 with Starlink Aviation offering flights to Halifax and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. However, Starlink Aviation ended its service in 2010, and Air Canada pulled out of Portland in 2013, discontinuing the scheduled international service once again. Despite these changes, the airport continues to serve passengers and play a vital role in the region's transportation network.

Northern Maine Regional Airport
The Northern Maine Regional Airport, now known as Presque Isle International Airport, is located in Aroostook County, Maine, United States. The airport is situated a mile northwest of Presque Isle and serves the residents of the city and the broader region of northern Maine and northwestern New Brunswick.

Augusta State Airport
The airport was originally constructed as a New Deal project by the Maine Emergency Relief Administration, a division of the Federal Emergency Relief Administration. Captain Harry M. Jones conducted a statewide survey of airports in January 1934, and the airport was subsequently built with three gravel runways: one north-south 2,000x80’, one east-west 1,600x80’, and one northeast-southwest 2,500x80’. Runway 17/35 underwent reconstruction in 2012, with upgraded runway lights and navigational aids, at a cost of $7.5 million funded by the federal government.
In terms of passenger traffic, the airport has seen an increase in enplanements (commercial passenger boardings) over the years. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, there were 3,554 enplanements in 2008, 3,663 in 2009, and a notable jump to 4,300 in 2010. The airport is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2017–2021, categorised as a non-primary commercial service facility.
