Bangor International Airport
The airport began as Godfrey Field in 1921, on land owned by local attorney Edward Rawson Godfrey (1877–1958). On August 19, 1923, virtually the entire U.S. Army Air Corps landed at Godfrey Field on a practice mission. Formerly a military installation known as Dow Air Force Base, Bangor International Airport remains home to the 101st Air Refueling Wing of the Maine Air National Guard. However, most of the Air Force's aircraft and personnel left in the late 1960s, and in 1968, Dow AFB was closed as an active-duty installation. The base was then purchased by the city and reopened as Bangor International Airport in 1969.

The Stephen A. Bean Municipal Airport, formerly known as the Rangeley Airport, is a town-owned public-use airport located in Maine, around two nautical miles (4 km) northwest of the central business district of Rangeley, a town in Franklin County. The airport covers an area of 125 acres (51 hectares) at an elevation of 1,825 feet (556 meters) above mean sea level. It has a rich history, with plans for its creation dating back to 1934, and it has undergone several name changes and developments over the years.
The airport was originally known as the Rangeley Airport and was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1934. It played a crucial role in forest fire patrols, with the Forest Service using it as a base for their planes. In the late 1970s, there were plans to renovate the airport, and it has since undergone significant transformations. Between 2001 and 2002, the airport was renamed Stephen A.
