Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is a commercial and military-use airport in Savannah, Georgia, United States. The airport is owned by the City of Savannah and managed by the Savannah Airport Commission.
The airport has undergone several construction and expansion projects over the years. The first aircraft landing field in Savannah began operations in 1918 on the south side of Daffin Park. In 1932, a city resolution named the airport Hunter Field, and a trolley car served as the first terminal in the mid-1930s. In 1940, the U.S. Army Air Corps proposed taking over Hunter Field in the event of a war, leading to the decision to build a second municipal airport. The City of Savannah acquired 600 acres near Cherokee Hill, and construction of a new airfield began under a Works Progress Administration project. Three 3,600-foot runways were constructed, but before completion, the U.S. Army Air Corps took over the facility and began additional construction. The airfield was named Chatham Field and was used as a bomber and crew training base during World War II.
In 1948, the airport was renamed Travis Field after Brigadier General Robert F. Travis, a native of Savannah. A new control tower and airline terminal were added, and in 1962, an extension brought the east-west runway's length to 9,000 feet. In 1994, a new 275,000-square-foot terminal was opened, designed by KBJ Architects. This project included new roads, a new aircraft taxiway, parking apron, stormwater ponds, landscaping, and a new interchange at I-95 for airport entry. The project cost $68.5 million and was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
In July 2007, a terminal expansion project added five departure gates, bringing the total to 15. Additionally, a $35 million parking garage was completed in October 2007, adding 1,700 parking spaces with an electronic program to alert drivers of available spaces. In 2017, Air Canada resumed international service to Toronto, but this route has since ceased operations.

Construction is currently underway to expand the TSA security lanes, with six lanes expected to be completed by fall 2024. The Taxiway G and Bridge Expansion project is also in progress, requiring lane closures and occasional full nighttime closures for grouting and post-tensioning activities.
