What You'll Learn

Lounges, WiFi, hotels, hours of operation, facilities and things to do on a layover
Luxembourg Airport (LUX) has two terminals: Terminal A, which handles most carriers, and Terminal B, which primarily caters to business flights. The airport offers various amenities, including shops and eateries, both landside and airside, as well as free WiFi. There is also a lounge available for passengers to wait in comfort. While the airport does not have designated sleeping pods or rest zones, travellers can find quiet corners airside to rest, especially near gates with less foot traffic. If you prefer a hotel for a longer layover, there are several options near Luxembourg Airport, such as the Ibis Luxembourg Aeroport and the Ibis Budget Luxembourg Aeroport, both located within an 800-meter radius and offering a complimentary shuttle service. Another option is the Mandarina Hotel Airport, which also provides a free airport shuttle.
Airport lounges can significantly enhance your layover experience, offering a range of amenities and a comfortable space to relax or work. Priority Pass, for example, provides access to over 1700 lounges and travel experiences worldwide, including locations in Las Vegas, JFK, San Francisco, Atlanta, Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh, Dubai, Doha, Hong Kong, and Sydney. These lounges typically offer complimentary drinks, refreshments, and pre-flight bites, as well as charging points and free WiFi. Some lounges may be accessible based on your airline status, class of service, or credit card privileges. Alternatively, you may be able to pay a daily rate to access certain lounges.
If you have a longer layover and wish to explore beyond the airport, the feasibility of leaving the airport depends on factors such as the length of your connection time, visa requirements, and security concerns, especially for international travel. In some cases, you may be able to turn your layover into a valuable part of your trip by visiting nearby attractions or exploring the city. However, it is always important to manage your time effectively to ensure you return to the airport in time for your connecting flight.
When planning your layover activities, consider any specific needs or requirements you may have. For example, if you plan to bring fish as luggage or carry-on, you may need to ensure access to freezer facilities at the airport or through a hotel. Additionally, if you require uninterrupted sleep during your layover, choosing a hotel with a complimentary shuttle service can be advantageous.
