United's SFO hub will have 4.5 times more seats on flights to the Pacific than any other U.S. airline hub this summer.
Additionally, United has unveiled plans to add new services from San Francisco to Thailand, Vietnam, and Australia this fall and to double its service from SFO to Manila. The airline's expansion at SFO is expected to boost the local economy and create more jobs for residents. United is already one of the Bay Area's largest employers, with more than 13,000 local team members, and plans to add 1,200 more in 2025.

In creating this space, the SFO project team consulted with organisations supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as the UCSF Children's Hospital and The Arc San Francisco. They also benchmarked similar facilities worldwide. SFO had previously partnered with The Arc San Francisco to create air travel rehearsal experiences for neurodivergent travellers and their families, and the new sensory room provides a permanent space for this purpose.
