Sioux Falls Regional Airport
The airport features the Costello Terminal, which opened in 1970 and has since undergone multiple renovations. From 2009 onwards, the airport underwent a multi-year, multi-million-dollar renovation and expansion project designed by Koch Hazard Architects to modernise its look and feel. The airport also offers an on-campus hotel, the AeroStay Hotel, which is directly connected to the terminal and provides over 75 rooms available year-round.

Rapid City Regional Airport
The Rapid City area has had a municipal airport since 1924, with the first airport situated near East North Street's railroad tracks. This airport was dedicated as Halley Field Airport in 1929, before the Rapid City Municipal Airport was established at the current location of Ellsworth Air Force Base in 1937. In 1950, the airport was relocated to its present site and, in 1980, it was renamed Rapid City Regional Airport. A new terminal opened in November 1988, and the original 1950 terminal was demolished in 2016.
As of 2022, there is no public transportation to Rapid City Regional Airport. The nearest Rapid City Rapid Ride bus stop is over six miles away, but ridesharing services such as Lyft, Wridz, and Uber are available. Taxis can also be ordered from Rapid Cab.

Aberdeen Regional Airport
The airport covers an area of 1,284 acres (520 ha) at an elevation of 1,302 feet (397 m) above sea level. It has two runways: 13/31, which is 6,901 by 100 feet (2,103 x 30 m) with a concrete surface, and 17/35, which is 5,500 by 100 feet (1,676 x 30 m) with an asphalt surface. Aberdeen Regional Airport was founded as Aberdeen Municipal Airport in 1921, north of Aberdeen, with two 2,500-foot runways. In 1923, the airport hosted South Dakota's first fly-in event.
In 1946, the airport's name was changed to Saunders Field in honour of Brigadier General Laverne Saunders. In 1979, the name was changed back to Aberdeen Municipal Airport, and a new terminal was built, featuring an "Airport Cafe". North Central Airlines operated flights to Minneapolis using DC-9-30, DC-3, and Convair CV5800 aircraft. In 1986, Northwest replaced Republic's operations after a merger.
In 1997, Northwest Airlink, operated by Mesaba Airlines, added regional destinations, including Jamestown, Pierre, and Watertown. A new terminal was constructed in 2003, equipped with a ground-based jetway capable of accommodating large aircraft such as the Boeing 737. In 2006, Great Lakes code-shared with United Express and introduced flights to Huron and Denver using Beechcraft 1900 aircraft. However, they pulled out in 2008 due to low demand. Delta Connection replaced Northwest's operation in 2009 and has been providing daily flights to Minneapolis/St. Paul through SkyWest Airlines.

Watertown Regional Airport
The airport's Fixed Base Operator is located at 704 Airport Drive, Watertown, and can be contacted on (605) 753-1230. Their business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the weekend.
Mesaba Airlines, operating as Northwest Airlink, and later, Delta Connection, served Watertown for years, with daily Saab 340s to Minneapolis/St. Paul. When Delta stopped using the Saab 340 in December 2011, flights from Minneapolis temporarily used Delta's Canadair Regional Jet 200, until Great Lakes Airlines took over the route four months later. Great Lakes Airlines offered daily non-stop Beechcraft 1900Ds to Minneapolis/St. Paul, but city officials ended the service in 2015, citing the airline's unreliability.
Aerodynamics, Inc. (later California Pacific Airlines) began flying to Watertown in 2016, with daily service to Denver via Pierre, but ended flights to both cities in 2019. Air service to Watertown resumed in the same year, with SkyWest Airlines operating as United Express, using 50-seat Canadair Regional Jet 200s.

The history of airline services at Pierre Regional Airport has involved several carriers and aircraft types over the years. In 1984, Mesaba Airlines operated turboprops connecting Minneapolis/St. Paul, Sioux Falls, Pierre, and Rapid City. By 1988, two regional air carriers served Pierre: Continental Express, operated by Rocky Mountain Airways, and Northwest Airlink, operated by Mesaba Airlines.
