Hamad International Airport
The airport covers 36 square kilometres (14 square miles), half of which is on reclaimed land, and is built over an area of 3,600 hectares (9,000 acres). The site for the airport was chosen in 2003, and construction began in 2005. The Steering Committee awarded the contract for the development of the airport to Bechtel, which included the design, construction management, and project management of the facilities.
