Global Entry is a program by U.S. Customs and Border Protection that allows expedited entry into the U.S. from abroad at select airports. Global Entry is valid for five years. Once you have final approval for Global Entry, it is valid for five years starting from your upcoming birthday. So, if you received final approval soon after your most recent birthday, you get more extra time. Conversely, if you received final approval just before your upcoming birthday, you get less extra time.
Upon expiration, you can renew your Global Entry membership for another five years. Renewal adds five years to your current expiration date. This means that your new expiration date will be five years from the date your membership was previously set to expire, regardless of when you renew.

Global Entry is a program that allows pre-approved, low-risk travellers to expedite their clearance upon arrival in the United States. It is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveller Program that has been in place since 2008. To be eligible for Global Entry, you must be a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States or a citizen of one of the following countries: Argentina, India, Colombia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Panama, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, and Mexico. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, but there is no minimum age requirement for minors with parental consent. All applicants must pay a $120 non-refundable application fee and undergo a background check and interview. Membership lasts for five years.
U.S. citizens enrolled in Global Entry can use the Smartgate system when entering Australia and New Zealand without registration.
