The Toledo Air National Guard Base (Toledo ANGB) is a Federal enclave of 135.4 acres leased by the Department of Defense for the State of Ohio and the Ohio Air National Guard. The base houses combat-ready F-16C Fighting Falcon jet fighters and associated Air National Guard support units. The physical facilities of the base consist of 3 administrative buildings, 13 industrial buildings, and 7 service buildings, including hangar facilities, totalling nearly 322,000 square feet.

The 180th Fighter Wing has 21 military aircraft based at Toledo Express Airport. The unit is supported by 290 full-time Air Reserve Technician (ART) and Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) personnel. In addition, over 600 part-time Traditional Air National Guardsmen are a part of the 180th Fighter Wing. The unit is capable of deploying worldwide to meet Air Force and combatant commander requirements as part of the Air Reserve Component of the U.S. Air Force. Toledo Express Airport has a long history, dating back to the post-World War II era. Efforts to build a modern airport began when civic leaders realised that the existing Toledo Municipal Airport was inadequate. After several proposed locations were discarded, a consortium of major Toledo companies acquired the site of Toledo Express Airport west of Toledo in 1952 and sold the land to the city at cost. The airport opened in 1954-1955 as a replacement for the Toledo Municipal Airport.
