Transport options to the city centre
Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN) is only 8.6 miles from downtown Barcelona and is connected by good transport links.
Metro
The L9 (orange) line connects the airport to Barcelona city. To get to the city centre, you will need to change to the L1, L5 or L3 line. The line stops at both terminals and a one-way fare costs €4.50. The metro runs from 5 am to midnight Monday to Thursday, from 5 am to 2 am on Fridays, and 24 hours a day on Saturday and Sunday.
Bus
The Aerobus service is an express bus that links Barcelona Airport to the city centre. It runs every 5 to 10 minutes within its fixed hours of operation. A single ticket costs €7.45, a return is €12.85, and the bus stops at both terminals. The number 46 bus also travels from the city centre to the airport, stopping at T2 and T1. This service takes longer and has more stops, but you can use the T-Casual transport ticket on this route.
Train
The R2N train runs from the airport to Barcelona Sants train station (the city's main train station) every 30 minutes. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes. This service only stops at Terminal 2, but you can take the free shuttle bus to Terminal 1.
Taxi
Taxis are available outside all terminal exits. This is a low-cost and convenient option, especially if you are travelling with family or lots of luggage. All official Barcelona taxis are black and yellow and will only charge you the value of the meter (plus any surcharges).
Private Transfer
You can also book a private transfer service online in advance of your trip. This is a door-to-door service, so you will be dropped off directly at your accommodation. You can book vehicles of different sizes, from standard cars to minivans.
