Jackson–Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport

The airport is located in Rankin County, between the suburbs of Flowood and Pearl, while most of the city of Jackson is in Hinds County. The airport is within a non-contiguous portion of the Jackson city limits and in Rankin County. The airport covers 3,381 acres (1,368 ha) at an elevation of 346 feet (105 m). It has two runways, 16L/34R and 16R/34L, each 8,500 ft × 150 ft (2,591 m × 46 m) asphalt.

The airport serves commercial, private, and military aviation. It is administered by the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority (JMAA), which also oversees aviation activity at Hawkins Field (HKS) in northwest Jackson. The Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame museum is located at the airport.

The airport was ranked 8th-best airport in a worldwide consumer survey conducted by Airports Council International (ACI) in March 2011. It was the only airport in the United States to be ranked in the top ten. The airport is governed by the JMAA and serves more than 700,000 passengers annually. Gulfport–Biloxi International Airport

The airport is located three nautical miles (or six kilometres) northeast of the central business district of Gulfport, a city in Harrison County. It covers an area of 1,400 acres at an elevation of 28 feet (around nine metres) above mean sea level. There are two runways: 14/32, which is 9,002 by 150 feet with an asphalt and concrete surface; and 18/36, which is 4,935 by 150 feet with an asphalt surface.

The airport was originally built in 1942 by the United States Army Air Forces as a training base for the Air Corps Flying Training Command. Gulfport Army Airfield opened on 7 July 1942. With the end of World War II and the drawdown of the military, Gulfport AAF was placed into reserve status on 31 January 1946. In 1949, the airfield was conveyed to the City of Gulfport for use as a civil airport. Due to the expansion of the United States Air Force during the Cold War, a new lease was obtained for military use of the airport, and Gulfport Air Force Base was opened as a joint-use civil–military facility. Although the base is no longer an active Air Force installation, it remains a joint-use airport and Air National Guard base, serving as the home of the Gulfport Combat Readiness Training Center.
