Zaventem Airport, also known as Brussels-National Airport or Brussels Airport, is the main airport in Belgium. It is located in the municipality of Zaventem and serves the country's capital, Brussels, carrying more than 23 million passengers per year. In 2005, it was awarded the title of Best Airport in Europe by Airports Council International and the International Air Transport Association (ACI/IATA). The award was based on a survey of over 100,000 passengers worldwide. Brussels Airport continued to appear in top airport lists as of 2012.
The airport has excellent transport connections to the rest of Belgium and beyond. It is easily accessible by train from stations across Belgium, often without transfers. The Brussels Airport train station is located directly underneath the terminal, with convenient escalator and elevator access to the departure hall. There is a direct train link to Leuven and Liège, as well as a direct link to Antwerp and Mechelen via the Diabolo line. A direct train connection to the European Quarter stations of Brussels-Schuman and Brussels-Luxembourg brings the travel time between the airport and the quarter to just 15 minutes.
