On 13 January 2021, Hisar became the 54th UDAN airport when the first-ever Hisar-Chandigarh Tecnam P2006T Air taxi flight took off under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme. The airport was renamed Maharaja Agrasen International Airport by the Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, with the aim of boosting tourism to religious and archaeological sites such as Agroha Dham and Agroha Mound.
