Zagreb Airport
The airport was once the second-largest in Yugoslavia by passenger and aircraft movements. On 31 August 1991, during the Croatian War of Independence, the airport became the scene of fighting between Croatian armed forces and the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA). Croatian forces attacked the control tower and blocked roads in and out of the airport, but the JNA was ultimately successful in their mission. Following this, the airport became a UN hub for getting food and medical supplies to war-ridden Croatia and Bosnia.
In 2012, the ZAIC consortium received a 30-year concession for the airport from the Government of Croatia. The consortium consists of Groupe ADP, Bouygues Bâtiment International, Marguerite Fund, International Finance Corporation, TAV Airports, and Viadukt. The construction of a new terminal facility began in December 2013 and was completed in October 2016, with the official inauguration taking place in March 2017.

Pula Airport
The airport's history is quite intriguing, initially serving military purposes before transitioning to civilian use in 1967. Over the years, it has experienced fluctuations in passenger numbers, including a sharp decline during the Croatian War of Independence. However, since then, Pula Airport has demonstrated a remarkable recovery, with passenger numbers steadily climbing over the subsequent decades. In 2019, the airport accommodated 777,568 passengers, reflecting its growing popularity.
The airport is easily accessible via a dedicated bus line from the centre of Pula, with a schedule that is adjusted monthly to align with flight arrival and departure times. Pula Airport is also recognised for its favourable weather conditions, making it a preferred choice for European carriers conducting training flights. Its location and climate contribute to lower flight numbers during the winter months, creating an ideal setting for practice flights.
