The baggage claim process
After exiting US Customs, your location will depend on the terminal. If you are in the North Terminal D or Central Terminal E, you will be on the 1st level, while exiting US Customs in the South Terminal J will place you on the 3rd level. To connect to other airlines or reach the parking garages from the South Terminal J, you can take the elevator to the 2nd level.
The MIA Mover provides convenient transportation to the Rental Car Center, as well as rail and bus services. Ground transportation options are available on the 1st level. Concourse D Skytrain closure
The Skytrain at Miami International Airport (MIA) was shut down on September 15, 2023, due to structural concerns and extensive cracking in the columns supporting the train system. This closure particularly affected passengers flying with American Airlines, as Concourse D is the terminal used by this airline and sees about 80,000 passengers per day.
