One of these is Maria Montez Airport (BRX), which is located 3 kilometres north of the Caribbean port city of Barahona, in the Barahona Province of the country. The airport is named after the late film star Maria Montez, who was born in the province of Barahona. It was inaugurated in 1996 and built at a cost of almost five hundred million pesos.
Maria Montez Airport has a large parking lot capable of accommodating over a hundred vehicles.
