Bradley International Airport (BDL), historically known as Bradley Field, is a public international airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. It is Connecticut's busiest commercial airport and the second-busiest airport in New England after Boston's Logan International Airport.
The airport was named after 24-year-old Lt. Eugene M. Bradley of Antlers, Oklahoma, who was assigned to the 64th Pursuit Squadron. Lt. Bradley was killed on August 21, 1941, when his P-40 plane crashed during a dogfight training drill. He was survived by his wife and unborn child, and he is buried in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
The airfield was renamed in Lt. Bradley's honour on January 20, 1942, and civil use of the airport began in 1947. The first commercial flight was Eastern Air Lines Flight 624.
