History of the House of Dior
The House of Dior, also known as Christian Dior SE, is a French multinational luxury goods company. The original fashion house was founded by French designer Christian Dior in 1946 to make haute couture items. Christian Dior was born in Granville, Normandy, France, on 21 January 1905. He was the second of five children born to a wealthy family. His father, Maurice Dior, owned a prosperous fertilizer business, and his mother came from a banking dynasty. As a child, Dior enjoyed painting and gardening, and later developed an interest in fashion design while working at his mother's dress shop. Dior left school at 18 to study art in Paris but soon ran out of money and returned home.
