Nellis Air Force Base

This training is delivered through exercises such as Exercise Red Flag and Exercise Green Flag (West), which typically take place at the nearby Nevada Test and Training Range.

Today, Nellis Air Force Base is a bustling hub of activity, employing approximately 9,500 military and civilian personnel as of October 2019. The total military population, including family members and retired personnel in the area, exceeds 40,000. The base also supports operations at nearby Creech Air Force Base, Tonopah Test Range, and the Nevada National Security Site.

Jean Airport

The airport is owned by the Clark County Commission and managed by the Clark County Department of Aviation. It covers an area of 232 acres at an elevation of 2,835 feet above sea level. Jean Airport features two parallel runways with asphalt surfaces. The longer runway, 2L/20R, measures 4,600 feet by 75 feet, while the shorter runway, 2R/20L, is 3,700 feet by 60 feet.

In the 12 months leading up to May 31, 2022, Jean Airport recorded 16,048 general aviation aircraft operations, averaging 44 per day. The airport accommodated 20 based aircraft during this period, including 11 single-engine planes, 8 gliders, and 1 multi-engine aircraft. Jean Airport is a general aviation facility as per the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011-2015.
