Hollywood Burbank Airport
Los Angeles is served by five airports with commercial air service, including the primary international airport, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which is the world's eighth busiest airport. John Wayne Airport
Los Angeles is served by five airports with commercial air service, including John Wayne Airport. Located in Orange County, John Wayne Airport is the only commercial-service airport in the county. It is surrounded by the cities of Irvine, Newport Beach, and Costa Mesa, and its IATA airport code is registered to Santa Ana, the county seat. The airport was originally named Orange County Airport, but was renamed in 1979 in honour of actor John Wayne, who lived in neighbouring Newport Beach and died that year.
The airport is owned and operated by the County of Orange, and general aviation, commercial aircraft, and private jets share the airport's runway, terminal, and storage facilities. A statue of John Wayne was installed at the airline terminal in 1982.

Ontario International Airport
There are five airports in the Los Angeles area. One of these is Ontario International Airport, which is located in the Inland Empire, about 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. It is a full-service airport with two modern, spacious terminals, two parallel runways and a centralised car rental centre. It is less congested than Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and is therefore increasingly favoured by executives. It offers nonstop commercial jet service to two dozen major airports in the US, Mexico, Central America and Taiwan. It is the West Coast air and truck hub for UPS Airlines and a major distribution point for FedEx Express.
In 2006, the airport was renamed LA/Ontario International Airport to remind fliers of Greater Los Angeles and to avoid confusion with the province of Ontario in Canada. The airport's traffic peaked in 2005 with 7.2 million passengers, but this decreased during the 2008 financial crisis when JetBlue suspended service to ONT, and major legacy carriers significantly reduced their passenger volume.
