SFO's AirTrain
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) offers a fully automated people mover system called AirTrain, which opened on February 24, 2003. AirTrain operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with departures as frequent as every four minutes. The service is free of charge, funded by a fee charged to rental car customers.
The AirTrain system is located outside the sterile area of each terminal, meaning passengers must exit and re-enter through security when using it to travel between terminals. It consists of two lines: the Red Line and the Blue Line. The Red Line travels in a clockwise loop around the central terminal area, connecting all terminals, terminal garages, the BART Station, and the Grand Hyatt at SFO. The Blue Line travels in a counterclockwise loop, serving the same stations in reverse order, and also extends to Westfield Road, the Rental Car Center, and long-term parking. If you're planning a multi-day trip from San Francisco International Airport (SFO), long-term parking is the best option. SFO's Long-Term Parking is located just north of the terminals and is easily accessed from both Highway 101 and Highway 380.
