Cargo flights typically arrive in the early evening (4-6 pm) and depart during the mid-evening (6-8 pm), making for some great shots. Private jets also frequently take off and land at San Jose Mineta Airport, especially during the morning and late afternoon/evening hours.
Along Airport Blvd Curve
While this location may not be as comfortable as the others, there is a stretch along the Airport Boulevard curve near the southwestern corner of the airport where you can capture departing aircraft. There are no sidewalks here, just a dirt shoulder, and you will need to photograph through the fence or walk out onto the shoulder. Ground-level utility boxes can help you maintain your footing while taking photos. The police have been known to ask spotters to leave this location and move to the SJSU parking lot instead.
